Time and Water

[Verse 1]
My thoughts are stars but I can't make constellations
Often I find myself imagining the conversations
I want to have but then is never the time or place
Hazel eyes piercing into my soul, I'm falling out of grace
The prince of mayhem, the duke of destruction
Just a grenade waiting to explode: my only instruction
Let the water run its course, it will swallow it all
Rising up and rising up but it will follow and fall
Listen close old man, we all want to leave a mark
Some bite, some might, and some believe in sparks
Stomping heavily on this earth or step lightly
Liked by all or loved deeply be few. Justify me
Rationalize my actions, give meaning to this
Heart on my sleeves means I've got bloody wrists
My affliction with this is that it's more than fiction
This benediction is written with so much conviction

[Chorus]
What do time and water have in common?
They swallow the entire world, no way to stop it
She looked in my eyes and asked if I was okay
And I replied "Okay," it's really the only way

What do time and water have in common?
They swallow the entire world, no way to stop it
She looked in my eyes and asked if I was okay
And I replied "Okay," it's really the only way

Okay? Okay
I replied "Okay" it's really the only way
Okay? Okay
Yeah I promise, I really am Okay

[Verse 2]
Even within a defined set of time
You let my reality expand, an endless line in my mind
Because some infinities are greater than others
And the degree I have for you is completely another
With a metaphor in my mouth, dangling
I'm making sure I'm not mangling but keep the words from angling
Sensing tragedy beyond, foreshadows on my forearms
Before harm I store charms without alarm
I'm scattered, I'm tattered, I'm torn, scared
But being battered will adorn me better for trials and tears
Or do I mean tears? Let the proverbial ten hit me
Bend over in pain, knocked down to my feeble knees
Losing my breath, without a leg to stand on
I'm blind to the facts, will I even make it to the dawn?
Standing out in my mind when I have to sit down
Make my days last longer, you make me feel so profound

[Verse 3]
The earl of eternity, feel the imperial presence
This adolescent is feeling something so elegant
This world we live is not a wish granting factory
But realize it's bigger viewing from this balcony
We're not looking down, we're looking around
The universe unfolding onto us, feel its heart pound
Because that's yours as well, please take notice
Never are we too broken to be too hopeless
We cannot control the amount of pain we are dealt
But we can decide who hurts us if that helps
Inside of each of our heads is a hectic glow
And if it wrecks you go until the best you know
I've been taught so much from the lessons you've been giving
14 dead for every 1 person living
You're so unprecedented because of how you are
Do we blame ourselves or the fault in our stars?
